Things To Do

Food and Drinks - Scott's Addition

The hotel is near an area called Scott's Addition. While it may not be the prettiest part of Richmond, its home to some great food and drinks! Some of our favorites:

BRENNER PASS

If you're in town on Friday and looking for a nice dinner, Brenner Pass is an excellent choice. The chef Brittany Anderson was a contestant on Top Chef and is known for her red meats. The burger is the best in the city (and Abbey says perhaps the world). Reservations recommended.

TAZZA KITCHEN

A go-to for Abbey and Dixon. Tazza is a bit more casual than Brenner Pass but still great food with a diverse menu. Abbey and Dixon recommend the pork nachos, kale chili salad, and scallops. Reservations recommended, but bar seating first-come, first-serve.

STELLA's GROCERY

Owned by the same family as the well-known Stella's restaurant, Stella's Grocery features sandwiches, kabobs, and other hot food..

DON'T LOOK BACK

Casual spot for tacos, margs, and beers.

EAZZY BURGER

Order-at-the-counter casual burger spot connected to Ardent Brewery.

GELATI CELESTI

"Quite possibly the best ice cream in America. " -- Abbey Thornhill

The "Just Ask" flavor is unbelievable. There is a location at the edge of Scott's as well as Libbie Grove, near CCV.

THE VEIL

Perhaps the most popular brewery in Richmond, the Veil is known for their top notch beer. Their new location in Scott's also features light food options.

ARDENT

One of Abbey and Dixon's favorite spots to sit and enjoy beers with friends, Ardent is a great choice for an afternoon brewery stop.

BRAMBLY PARK

Brambly Park is a large wine garden with wine, beer, and food. The picnic/park area offers snacks/appetizers, and the inside and covered patio area features a full Italian menu.

Food And Drinks - Other Favorites

THE STABLES

Abbey and Dixon's current favorite, right in the Museum District neighborhood. Reservations recommended. Limited first-come, first-serve bar seating available.

STELLA'S

Featuring fantastic Greek food and delicious cocktails, Stella's may be Richmond's most popular restaurant. Dinner reservations book up about 3 months in advance, but lunchtime spots can be easier to snag. Stella's also has a communal table that is first-come, first-serve. Be prepared for large portions.

GRISETTE

Grisette is a French restaurant in the Church Hill neighborhood with fantastic food and wine. The menu is small and constantly changing, although steak frites are always on the menu. Ordering the Smorgasboard is a must! Reservations recommended.

JARDIN

If you don't have time to make it over to Grisette for a meal, you can check out the owner's wine bar in the Fan, Jardin. The wine bar features many of the meats and cheeses available at the restaurant, and of course delicious French wine!

CONEJO

A casual, fun spot for Mexican tapas. Reservations recommended.

ULIVETO

An Italian restaurant in the Fan, Uliveto is a newer, hip spot with a large rotating menu of specials.

TASTE UNLIMITED

Folks from the VA Beach area will be familiar with this popular sandwich spot! In the Libbie Grove area, Taste offers a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, and soup.

TRIPLE CROSSING

Dixon's favorite brewery in Richmond. Locations in in Fulton and Downton. The Fulton location also offers pizza. Worth the drive!

CHEWY'S BAGELS

Yummy sourdough bagels and coffee in Carytown.

NORTH END JUICE

Just a couple blocks from Abbey and Dixon's house, North End Juice offers a breakfast burrito, avocado toast, acai bowls, juice, and smoothies.

Coffee

BLANCHARD'S

Just across the street from Scott's Addition, Blanchard's is known for some of the best coffee in the city.

BLACK HAND

Just a few blocks from Abbey and Dixon's house, Blackhand gets an embarrassing amount of business from the happy couple. Blackhand offers coffee drinks as well as breakfast sandwiches.

LAMPLIGHTER

Great breakfast food and coffee. Gluten free bagels available.

Activities

VIRGINIA MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS

Virginia's best art museum, right in Abbey and Dixon's neighborhood. General admission is free . Tickets for special exhibits are typically $30.

BELLE ISLE

Park by Tredegar Iron Works and cross on a suspended bridge with great views of Downtown Richmond over to Belle Isle for a walk along the James River.

NORTH BANK TRAIL

If you want a longer hike/walk, park next to Tredegar and walk along the North Bank trail up the James River to the west. Just watch out for mountain bikers!

MAYMONT

An old estate, Maymont is another beautiful place to walk. Check out the Japanese Garden, or take kids to see the Children's Farm.

CARYTOWN

Not far from Scott's Addition, Carytown has local shops, coffee, ice cream, and restaurants. Check out Sugar & Twine for coffee, Bev's for ice cream, The Daily for brunch, and Citizen Burger for a casual dinner.
